Three-jaw Chucks

Three-jaw chucks is a kind of the machine tool accessories used to clamp and position work pieces. According to the drive chuck claw with different dynamics, three-jaw chucks can be divided into two kinds: one is the manual scroll chuck, and the other one is the power scroll chuck.

Three-jaw chucks consist of the chuck body, the movable claw and claw driving mechanism. In the guiding parts of the three claws, there are threads meshed with the plane thread on the back of the saucer shaped bevel gear. When you use a wrench to turn the small bevel gear, the dish shaped gear will rotate, and the plane thread on the back of the saucer shaped bevel gear will drive three claws to the center or near the exit, which finally clamp the work piece with different diameters.

After changing three anti claws in three claws, the three-jaw chucks can be used to install a larger diameter of work piece. Three-jaw chucks’ self accuracy is in the range of 0.05-0.15mm. The precision of the work pieces, which are processed by three-jaw chucks, can be influenced by the manufacturing precision and the  wear degree of the three-jaw chucks.
